Money touches every part of our lives, how we live, what we choose, and how secure we feel about our future, and yet, for many of us, it’s something we were never truly taught to understand. In this series, we’re going to change that. Together, we’ll break down financial concepts in a way that’s simple, practical, and easy to relate to, whether you’re just starting out, rebuilding, or looking to feel more confident and in control of your finances. This is not about perfection. It’s about awareness, empowerment, and taking small, meaningful steps toward financial well-being. So wherever you are on your journey, you’re in the right place.

This season, we're diving into financial literacy because understanding your finances is more than just about numbers. It's about making informed choices that support your goals, your values, and your peace of mind. I'm excited to be joined by two members of the Coast Capital Savings Team who will help break down these topics in practical, accessible ways. Together, we'll explore everyday money topics from budgeting and savings to investing, managing debt, and protecting yourself from fraud. Our goal is to give you clarity and confidence so you can make decisions that work for your life, not someone else's. Whether you're just starting out, planning for the future, or somewhere in between, this series is here to help you feel empowered and informed. So let's dive in and start feeling confident about our finances.
I'd like to tell you a little bit about our financial experts. First, Brenda Mah. With 25 years of experience on the front line at a local credit union, Brenda has a deep understanding of financial principles and a strong foundation in community-focused financial services. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of leading teams and driving initiatives that make a tangible impact in the communities we serve. Her passion for social innovation led her to earn a Social Innovation Certificate from Simon Fraser University. Brenda currently serves as a Financial Education Manager at Coast Capital Savings.
Shauna Lynde. Shauna has been with Coast Capital Savings since February 2007. Her background in coaching and personal development laid a strong foundation for her transition into financial services. As a branch manager at the West Broadway branch, she has built a career centered on leadership, member support, and meaningful impact. Currently, Shauna serves as the Regional Manager of Wealth Management Services at the Advice Center. Shauna is deeply passionate about financial education, especially for youth, and is committed to giving back through volunteerism. She actively supports Covenant House, the ALS Society of BC, Take a Hike Foundation, and BC Premier Soccer. When does this woman sleep? I have no idea.
We're so happy to have Brenda and Shana along on this journey to help us break down everything we need to know about financial literacy.
